TV Research Data Research: primary secondary quantitative qualitative Quantitative: Data that can be measured numerically (e.g. the number of people who watch a given show)  -Closed questions are usually yes/no tick the box data- easily transformed into graphs Likert scale: a sliding scale enabling interviewees to rate their responses  e.g. 'strongly agree' Qualitative: Typically descriptive, in depth data used to find out how people think about a given product -Questions that allow people to write extended responses, This type of data can be used to identify likes and dislikes, trends ect. -This type of questioning is usually open ended Watershsed: after 9pm there are more adult shows

Audiences Passive audience:  Consuming media without actively engaging in the content (binging a series) Active audiences: engages and responding to a media text.  TV Streaming Services With streaming services becoming more prolific (more popular), they are seen as threatening to TV Broadcasters.
